Yesterday was the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2007.
My first marathon. My first race (run), in fact. And my first medal!
Started the day early, very very early.
Took the first train down, was shocked to this so many people participating too, as I watch people of all kinds wearing the same singlet, boarding the train.
My mum went along with me, I felt so edified. First time. Haha.
The race started of in front of the Fullerton Hotel.
There were so many people squeezing on the 3 lanes of road at the start point.
The rows od people could easily reach half a km, despite the 3 lane width.
When it started, we had to wait about a minute or so, before we can start running.
And when they asked everyone to smile to the camera, everyone started jumping like as if it they were having praise & worship.
I got off to a good start, for the first 2km, running at a moderate speed.
Then the next 2km, was when I started slowing down, then I realised, the slower I go, the more tired I would get.
So I decided to rest first before going, stride walked, then started running again.
Then I met Julian, we had a drink, and then walked and talked.
We talked about 'Heroes'. Haha. Love that show.
We got carried away, and talked for too long.
Then I started running again, quite fast.
Overtook lots of people, weaved through everyone else.
This I do not understand, why do everyone still jog so slow when the finishing line as so near?
So I sprinted through.
1:9:33.90!
I managed to get below my desired 1hr15mins!
But still I regretted talking when I could run instead.
I'm wanting to take part in next year's, but $50 just to run, is way too costly.
